bulletFALL
In autumn, the Hood River Valley’s world famous fruit orchards are heavy with the bountiful harvest of the season. Fruit stands throughout the area feature the area’s specialties, while the surrounding trees glisten with colorful fall foliage. Fall is often more like an Indian Summer in the Gorge, when the winds generally calm, and the deserts in Eastern Oregon continue to heat up the region. It is a special time to visit the area’s award-winning wineries or the microbreweries. The Hood River Valley Harvest Fest, celebrated the third weekend in October, is a popular time for a fun-filled visit. The pace becomes a bit slower as autumn settles in, but the scenery still draws visitors onto the river and into the mountains.
