One of the area’s greatest museums, the Gorge Discovery Center, just opened its doors to the public with interactive stories of the Gorge’s geology, Native American life, and pioneer history. The Gorge Discovery Center is located in The Dalles, 20 miles east of Hood River.

Multnomah Falls, at 620 feet high, is Oregon’s top visitor attraction. Multnomah Falls is just 30 minutes from the Hood River Inn en route to Portland. See many other waterfalls along the drive, and reach dozens more by foot.

Anyone who appreciates fine craftsmanship will want to visit Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood, built in the 1930s as a WPA project under President Roosevelt’s administration.

The Maryhill Museum, just 40 minutes away in Goldendale, Washington, houses many unusual collections, and is a fabulous history lesson in itself.

Enjoy a unique perspective of the wondrous Hood River Valley as a passenger on the historic Mt. Hood Railroad. Or partake in a paddle-wheel cruise on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler.

If you’re like many visitors to the Gorge, you’ll also enjoy shopping in Hood River, driving the 47 mile guided Hood River Valley Fruit Loop tour and visiting antique shops or sampling regional wines and microbrews.

Hood River is in the center of the 300,000 acre Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, offering an abundance of pristine lands. Admire the breathtaking vistas of the Hood River Valley’s lush orchard lands from Panorama Point, just a few miles south of the Hood River Inn. Or visit Lost Lake, where many enjoy fishing, canoeing, and swimming in picturesque waters reflecting snow-capped Mt. Hood.
